Since the beginning of the war, it has opened its doors to help refugees from the temporarily occupied territories, settlements where the front line passes, affected families with children. Our teachers were volunteers. They conducted all these three months of online lessons and worked for refugee families. Housework, consulting, needlework, excursions. Children of Mariupol, Kharkiv, Bucha, Chernihiv, Nikolaev passed in lyceum “Living Word” comprehensive restoration. We converted our classrooms into bedrooms and shower rooms. In the school canteen, together with the chefs, our teachers helped to prepare especially delicious dinners for refugees. In addition to physical food and warmth, we tried to give people hope by giving them children’s Bibles and telling them about Christ until late.

For children from Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Mariupol, Zaporizhia region, who were in an acute phase of stress and did not want to talk directly, we organized special classes in needlework and occupational therapy. More than once, the children began to talk casually about the pain, and about their losses and despair. Asked for help. We learned about their needs, their experiences. The lyceum invested in materials for these classes. In two weeks, the work of firing, painting and other needlework has become a lot, so teachers offered to make a charity fair. Although it was not easy, God took care of the donations from our students and parents, for the children who lived in the lyceum eighteen thousand hryvnias of financial aid were given, for those who due to loss of housing and documents have not yet received support from the state. The fair included free refreshments and games for refugee children in the neighborhood. Although the children had little food and warmth every day, this day entered their life story with a special concern for God. Elijah said: “This is the first time I have such money in my hands” (three thousand hryvnias). They believed that God would be with them at all times. Teachers conducted city tours, library events, and gift boxes to refugee children. Many of the forces of teachers were taken away by sorting out humanitarian aid. But every morning they also worked on teaching students online. There is a need to protect against emotional and physical burnout and teachers who have always been around, often working without days off.

Recently, a couple from Mariupol made a covenant with God through water baptism. We see how God loves us all and saves us for eternity.  May God bless our team for good deeds in the future!
